"DAVIS CHRISTMAS"

Mom and Dad came out last week and made the rounds. They stayed with us on Wednesday night. They came a day early to see Kaycee play in one of her High School Soccer games... but it got rained out. Dad was disappointed that he didn't get to see her play. They then went and stayed at one of their good friends house on Thursday night. They went to Sandon and Laura's house on Friday night. We celebrated our family Christmas on Saturday morning at Sandon's. We all opened presents, ate too much food and just enjoyed the day!! Mom and dad went and stayed at Paula's on Saturday and at Terri's on Sunday. (I bet they were exhausted!). Here are some random photos of our Christmas. I always forget to take the pictures so this is all I got. Jim and Me

Halloween

Wht do you do if you are too old to go trick or treating, and Mom says your not old enough to go to a halloween party? You decorate the garage like a haunted house!!! Matt, Kaycee and her friend Katie decorated our garage using old drapes and fake blood. They had a fog machine with scary music playing, a strobe light, and then they would jump out and scare people. " Stupidity at it's finest"

Well it all started with a visit to the vet. Usually one of the kids will go with me to take the pets to the vet, but on this one day Matt was staying after school for tutoring and Kaycee was at soccer practice. So I decided to attempt to take our 50 pound puppy to get his stitches removed.(We had him fixed a couple weeks ago) the only problem is we have the most frightened puppy in the world. In the backyard he is ferocious but try to get him in the car and take him anywhere and he turns into a big chicken, this is where the fun begins. He almost always throws up in the car and on this day he did. Well I got him to the vet and the stitches were removed, I took him out to the car and had to force him in. I finally got him in leaving my purse and cell phone inside, as I was walking around the back of the car my sandal got stuck in the buckled pavement and I went down like a ton of bricks. I saw my ankle roll and thought it was broken. Now I wasn't as worried about the ankle as much as I was about "Who Saw Me Fall" then reality set in and I noticed nobody was around. With my cell in the car what could I do. I managed to make it to the car, and since it was my left foot I decided to try and get home. By this time my ankle was the size of a grapefruit. I called Jim and told him to go get Kaycee because we needed to go to the emergency room. Well it turned out it wasn't broken just badly sprained. They took me out of work for five days, wrapped my ankle, gave me crutches and some good meds and sent me home. So here are some pictures notice the nice pedicure (ha ha) and the scraped up knee. I usually have ankle bones but I can't seem to find them through all the swelling.

"Our Redneck Weekend"

On Sunday we went to the California Speedway for our annual redneck weekend. Jim and I have had season tickets for about 10 years. We have four seats, Paula and Scott used to use two of the seats, but when they opted out we kept the four and decided we would take the kids. This race was a little boring. We had a great time anyway, the weather wasn't too hot which was a plus!!! For a couple of years it was almost too hot to sit in the stands, and torture for the kids. We even made it out of the parking lot in record time. (We finally figured out that if you park closest to the street instead of closest to the track, you get out faster). Jim getting all geared up

Matt took this video on my camera, excuse the shaking and no sound. (I have one of those "cheap" cameras without sound)

"Here Comes The Bride"

Sandon and Laura's wedding was this last weekend. Mom, Dad, Paula and her family and my family rented a nice cabin at Lake Arrowhead. This cabin was three stories with two decks and plenty of room for three families. Matt and Kaycee started school on Wednesday and we rented the cabin from Wednesday to Sunday. So I had to make a sacrifice and go to the cabin by myself (without the kids) for Wednesday and Thursday. What on earth could I do for two whole days without the kids and hubby :) I had a great time with Mom and Dad and Paula and her family, but I did manage to finish 1 book and start another before my family came up on Friday. On Thursday Terri held a picnic for everyone that was there early for the wedding. Sorry the pictures are not in any particular order (I still haven't got this blog thing down).Mom and Dad at the picnic

Annual Kernville Trip

On Tuesday we packed up the car, (boy did we miss the truck) and headed to Kernville and Lake Isabella. (Jim's brother and his wife live there) We go every year and the kids can't wait to go. Jim and his family used to live there many years ago. So we have to endure all the old stories that Jim tells when we get into town. But the kids don't seem to mind. We usually stay at this lodge that is up river, but we didn't make reservations in time. So we settled for another lodge. This one was a little more rustic!?!. The maintenance man stayed in the room next to us,( he was a little shadey looking) needless to say Kaycee and Matt were never out of our sight. We still seemed to enjoy ourselves. Matt couldn't wait to get out on the river and fish for trout. One night we had to drag him in, it was so dark he couldn't even see!!! He also managed to get up at 6:oo a.m. every morning to hit the river! So much for my sleeping in on my vacation!!!

Wednesday Jim's brother and wife had the day off so they took us out on their boat for some fun fishing and swimming.

On Thursday we decided to go up river and find a nice quiet place to swim, fish and just relax.

Here I am getting sunburned!!
Matt thought he could catch trout with a net instead of a fishing pole. Unfortunately this didn't work real well!!

On Friday we rented a pontoon boat and went fishing and swimming. The lake looks green because in the heat the the bacteria comes up from the bottom. I was told that the lake was "turning over" I'm not sure that I believe that or not, but we all went swimming and nobody got sick. We all caught fish. The kids got a kick out of driving the boat (even though they weren't old enough. You know the Smith's break all the rules). After fishing we went to the park where the river runs by and I snoozed under the trees while the kids river rafted. (under Jim's watchful eye)
